Brian has practiced in Spokane, Washington since 1982 handling litigation matters in state trial courts, courts of appeal and the Supreme Court, as well as federal district courts, bankruptcy courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has past experience in insurance defense matters, having handled professional negligence claims against realtors and title insurers, personal injury and defect claims against contractors and product liability actions. He works regularly with real estate brokers, developers, contractors and lenders, serves as Multiple Listing Service counsel for the Spokane Association of Realtors, and participates in a statewide network of attorneys involved in advising real estate associations in the State of Washington. Brian is a member of the Business Law, Environmental Law, Public Procurement and Private Construction Law, and Real Property Probate and Trust sections of the Bar Association. He frequently conducts continuing education classes for realtors and has served as an instructor for the Washington State Bar Association in courses dealing with real estate broker and agent liability and business purchase and sale transactions. He is included in the Best Lawyers Consumer Guide published by Woodward/White, Inc., the editors of the Best Lawyers in America. In 2005, in a survey of Spokane and Coeur d'Alene attorneys, Balch was selected as one of the two Best Lawyers in Spokane in commercial and residential real estate law.
